These Guys are Awesome!

A couple of weekends ago, Adam and I decided to go on a preaching trip to Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church in Dalark(sp?), Arkansas with my mom and dad. I haven't been on a trip with them in so long and I forgot how much fun they can be. We had so much fun and the church was just precious. And the best part being that we made some cool new friends. We might just share them with you in a couple of days at singing school. We'll think about it anyways;)

Right before we left for church on Sunday morning. Adam, John, Seth, and me.

These guys are extremely talented, along with their mom and dad of course. Sister Becky is on the bass, Elder Gary on the guitar, John on the fiddle, and Seth on the mandolin.

We had two little "jam fests" while we were there. Such a blessing.

They also taught us how to play the Wii. Which we have never done and it's probably good I don't have one because I would be addicted. I think Seth might be already.

This pretty much raps it up I think. We are so glad that we got to hang out with the Harvey's and I hope that we can visit again really soon.

Let the Countdown begin...

Many of you may remember my friend Lou from Auburn, aka the owner of the giant spoon. She and Josh got married at the Auburn University Art Museum this past saturday and it was such a happy time for all. It was great to have an excuse to see friends again. I miss them all so much. But no worries it won't be long before i see them again. In October our other friend brigette is getting married. Yea!

" M&M drug bust"

Ok, here's the deal. Finals are FAST approaching and I'm almost through two semesters of pharmacology which basically means that I don't know everything about drugs but I better know something! So the game? If you don't care to post drugs that either you are on or your parents or whoever really are on, I'll need the generic name and the brand if you have it, then I will guess what they are used for and how they work. I promise to not look them up unless I have to and I'll tell you/ confess to you that I had to if I do. This will benefit me and my studying and well...I'll give anyone who stumps me 5 virtual M&M's! I mean if that isn't a motivator i don't know what is. So let the games begin!

P. S. I'll post the drugs and their results if enough people participate. :)

Remembering

I remember riding many a mile
with Maw Maw in the right seat
and Aunt Louise in the left.
We drove to town, all around,
in comfort and style.
And in the back of the Cadillac
I sat, watching with a smile.

A tape cassette played Travis Tritt,
and I heard Achy Breaky Heart
a dozen times or more.
I never paid much attention
to what the words meant.
But my aunt belted the chorus out,
and asked, "Are we having fun yet?"

Maw Maw carried her water with her,
however short or long the trip.
And her pocketbook
was filled with every coupon
to save dimes and quarters.
I realized why she kept so much
when I studied the Depression Era.

It's odd, the things you remember
when several years have past.
And yet I can recall
my aunt's smile and my grandmother's
jumpsuits and white sweater.
Her big hugs and quiet country voice.
Memories to last forever.

Bankhead National Forest

John and I went hiking in Bankhead National Forest / Clear Creek Recreational Area this past Saturday. We had a really good rainfall on Friday, and the bluffs that are spread throughout the trail showcased several beautiful waterfalls. It was an absolutely wonderful day to go, even if it was overcast. The flowers are all beginning to bloom down here in Alabama, and we saw several pink, red, white, and purple flowers. We also managed to see several deer, a groundhog, and a very large frog! I love being outdoors this time of year, and I enjoy the good conversation that can be had when you "escape" the world and all its distractions for a while to enjoy God's creation.

We found this Iris blooming towards the end of the trail. It's one of John's favorite flowers.

No one else was around, but we managed to snag a picture to capture the moment anyways!

I thought this tree stump had a really cool design. The colors in it were brilliant.

John happened to look up and notice that all the leaves on this tree were in a circle. Interesting, huh? You never know what surprises you may find.
